This summer was a heavy one, and I’ve mentioned that a bunch. We had several deaths in our family within a month, bookended by the Kerrville flooding. I grew up going to Mystic and know several families affected and with all of this heaviness, it put a bit of a dark cloud over the first half of our summer.
But with darkness, comes light.
You can’t have one without the other, and despite feeling sad and depressed at times, there was lots of joy, laughter and fun this summer.
So, this post is dedicated to that joy.
The ability to find the good or the silver lining when things feel like they’re falling apart.
Even more so than usual, I’ve been so grateful for my kids during this season. The extra hugs, the snuggles, the innocence, the slow mornings, the simple appreciation that they are safe and healthy, the giggles and simple pleasures they find in just about anything reminds me that happiness is a choice and can really be found if we want to look for it.
