One of the best ways to make your home feel more cozy, collected and complete is to put some art on the walls. Art doesn’t have to be crazy expensive and neither does framing it.
If you’ve been to a local framer, you’ll know that custom framing, while beautiful, isn’t cheap! If it’s in your budget, great—I do think it’s a great investment and looks amazing, but I also have lots of art and can’t be custom framing everything. So, I wanted to share my favorite places to find affordable, ready-to-hang frames that you can easily pop art or photos in and finish up a space.

These all feature pretty standard sizes that you’ll find with most art prints. It can be a little tougher to frame larger pieces, but for sizes 24×36 and smaller, these should all be great places to look! If you’re looking for unique art for your space, make sure to check out our art shop!
8 Best Places to Buy Affordable Frame for Art
1. Target
Target is a fantastic place to find trendy and affordable frames and that’s why they’re number one on my list. We have so many of their frames from the Threshold line in black, white and oak (it’s probably not real oak, but it’s got the look!) For larger frames, I’d venture out to the store and look, those are easier to get damaged during delivery. They offer a variety of styles, from minimalist black and white frames to more decorative options.
Best for:
- Trendy and modern styles
- Budget-friendly pricing
- In-store and online availability
2. Amazon
Amazon is a go-to for just about anything, including budget-friendly frames in every size, color, and material imaginable. Whether you’re looking for simple gallery-style frames, floating frames, or ornate vintage-inspired designs, you’ll find plenty of options at competitive prices. Be sure to check reviews for quality before purchasing.
Best for:
- Wide variety of styles and sizes
- Bulk frame sets for gallery walls
- Fast shipping with Prime

3. IKEA
IKEA is a favorite for minimalist and Scandinavian-inspired frames that won’t break the bank. They have a great selection of frames with or without mats which are great for gallery walls, plus some larger sizes that can work for bigger pieces. I love the simple construction of their frames and from my experience, they’re pretty sturdy and well-priced.
Best for:
- Simple, modern designs
- Affordable large-format frames
- Gallery wall frames
4. Walmart
Walmart is a surprisingly great spot for budget-friendly frames. They carry both basic and decorative frames, often at lower prices than competitors. We don’t have a Walmart nearby, but if you do, it’s worth checking out!
Best for:
- Extremely budget-friendly options
- Variety of frame packs
- Convenient in-store pickup options
5. Michaels
If you’re looking for quality frames with a bit more customization, Michaels is the place to go. They frequently have 50% off sales on frames, and they offer custom framing if you want something extra special.
Best for:
- High-quality frames with frequent sales
- Custom framing options
- Classic and modern frame designs

6. HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, & Marshalls
These stores are great for finding unique, high-quality frames at discounted prices. Since their inventory changes often, you might score designer-style frames for much less than at department stores.
Best for:
- Unique and high-end frames at discount prices
- Great for statement pieces
- Fun treasure-hunting experience
7. Thrift Stores & Flea Markets
If you love vintage or eclectic styles, don’t overlook thrift stores and flea markets! You can often find beautiful, solid wood frames for just a few dollars. If the color or style isn’t quite right, a little spray paint or stain can transform them into something perfect for your space. You can even buy a piece of art that’s framed then remove the art if you don’t like it.
Best for:
- Super affordable options
- Vintage and unique finds
- DIY-friendly frames
8. Dollar Stores (Dollar Tree, Dollar General, & Five Below)
If you’re on a super tight budget, dollar stores are a great place to grab small frames. They may not be the most high-quality, but they work well for small prints or DIY projects.
Best for:
- Ultra-cheap frames
- DIY projects
- Small prints and photos
There’s no need to spend a fortune to frame your art beautifully.
