Classica Pullover Sweater by Ashley Lillis

Knitting

FILED IN:

This was my very first test knit and it happened at the perfect time. Ashley and I had recently met via the internet (gotta love that), she posted that she needed testers and the yarn suggested for the pattern? I had 8 skeins of it ready to go!

This pattern is a classic sweater with a great fit—shaped shoulders and a really nice neckline. It’s knit from the top down and the majority of it other than the cuffs is knit in stockinette, making it a great one for advanced beginner knitters who are thinking about tackling their first sweater. There’s no fancy stitch pattern to keep track of, just knits and purls while it’s flat and then knitting in the round, plus some simple ribbing for the cuffs.

The yarn used here is Drops Air, one I’ve used in several other projects and one I love. It’s lightweight, but knits up somewhat quickly and has a fuzzy texture to it so it sort of looks like you held it together with mohair. It’s very soft and easy to wear—not too bulky!

What You’ll Need:

Knitting Pattern: Classica Pullover Sweater by Ashley Lillis

Needles: US 8, US 7, US 6—

Yarn: Drops Air—so many great colors! I made a size small and used 6-7 skeins, so not too expensive either!

Extras: stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needles & measuring tape

I love having patterns like this in my library when I need a simple sweater. I’d love to do a striped version of this for next fall and winter—maybe with some blues and reds or pink and blue? So many colors to choose from!

If you’re a newer knitter, but ready to try out a sweater, I think you’ll love this pattern from Ashley Lillis and find it straightforward and easy to follow. She even includes YouTube videos to go alongside her patterns which is super helpful for newbies! You can grab the pattern here—happy knitting!
