With warm weather approaching, I’ve been making a long list of projects that I want to tackle in the next few months so I can wear them throughout the spring and summer months.

I just finished my Sophie Shawl and I absolutely love it! It’s a relatively quick project and a good one for beginners who want to learn a little more than just knit and purl! I’m teaching some friends to knit and this is the project we’re working on and it’s been so much fun! The day after I finished it, it was cold so I got to wear it and it’s perfectly cozy and soft and the tapered ends are just so cute 🙂
Next up are some spring and summer projects—lightweight tanks, a bag, skirts and my first dress! I’m very excited to expand my skills and also continue to build out a wardrobe that’s fun, unique and something I love!
So, here’s what’s on my project list for the next few months—what’s on yours?!
Knitting Projects for Spring & Summer
Novice Tank
I love a knitted tank for some texture during the warmer months. I came across this photo above and loved the simplicity and the color. I found a yarn that worked and in a color that I thought was similar, but when it showed up, my yarn is actually neon yellow. My plan is dye this yarn a chartreuse color, but I need to do some testing before to make sure I get a shade of greenish yellow that I’m happy with.
I’m planning on using this novice slipover pattern from PetiteKnit and skipping the mohair so it feels lighter for spring and summer!
Pot de Miel Inspired Bag
I have some Japansk Bomuld yarn in this Lime Color and some Raffia in the dune green. I started a bag last year and it just ended up being much bigger than expected, so I think my plan is to pull it out and make a small, more structured bag, similar to Clare V.’s Pot de Miel, but unclear if I’ll taper it in like hers or just leave it more cylindrical.

To give it more structure, I’m planning on knitting it in a thicker stitch pattern and if necessary, I’ll create a lining with medium or heavyweight interfacing in it so it stands up on it’s own. I love my French Market Bag from PetiteKnit, but it’s super soft and has no structure at all and I’d love for this bag to be able to stand up on it’s own. For a handle, I’m thinking of grabbing something like this for fun!
We’ll see how it turns out and who knows, maybe this will end up being my first knitting pattern!
Cardigan No. 9
One of my friends has this gorgeous Nicki Chassin sweater in the colorblock color above and I thought this would be a fun way to make Cardigan No. 9—pick a base color and then add some fun pops for the cuffs and placket!

Sewing Projects for Spring & Summer
Jackie Dress

I am so excited to make this Jackie dress because it seems pretty simple and straightforward. It also uses French seams which will be a first for me. I bought this washed linen in the mojito color from Blackbird Fabrics and I cannot wait to wear this. I picture wearing it with a colorful necklace and my favorite pair of sandals. This pattern also includes instructions for making it a top too which I’m sure I’ll do at some point!
Zamora Skirt

This gorgeous Doen-inspired skirt is also on my list in a crisp white cotton! The fabric just arrived and I need to figure out if I need a lining since white is always a bit on the see-through side. I love the tiers and tuck details on this skirt and I even bought some lace to sit at the bottom. I also love that this skirt has an elastic waist because that’s something I’ve done and feels a lot more approachable than a zippered skirt.
Maisie Tiered Skirt
I love a simple tiered skirt and I grabbed this pattern because it comes with lots of different variations of this skirt, so expect to see me wearing lots of skirts this summer! I grabbed two different fabrics that I plan to use for this. One is this Astrid Cotton in white and blue and another is this linen check that sold out, but is so fun (both are pictured above)! I can’t wait until they arrive so I can get a better idea of which version of the pattern I want to make.
Peter Pan Collar Dress & Top
Lastly, I picked up this pattern but haven’t bought fabric for it yet. This one seems like it might be a little more complex with buttonholes and a collar so saving this one for later in the season when I’ve had some more practice!
